WHO IS JUTTA?
Classically trained German clinician Jutta Schott, Reitlehrer FN, has been coming to Southern Oregon to give dressage clinics since the mid 1990’s. Born in Germany, Jutta became a certified Bereiter in 1972 which entitled her to teach and train through second level. In 1981 she became a certified Reitlehrer FN authorizing her to train and teach horses and riders (including other professionals) up through the FEI levels. This certification is earned in Warendorf Westphalia and is awarded only upon the completion of extremely vigorous courses of study and demonstrated riding and teaching ability. Before leaving Germany she trained and competed her mare up through Prix St. George, earning the German Bronze and Silver medals.
Jutta then moved to Vienna Austria where she worked for seven years as the assistant head instructor at the private barn of Arthur Kottas, the Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School. While in Austria she received her Austrian Instructor’s License. She still maintains her membership in a European association of professional trainers and instructors and rides with international caliber clinicians including the former coach of the Dutch Olympic team, Bert Rutten.
Jutta came to the United States in the mid-eighties and settled in Southern California near Redlands. During the week she gives lessons and trains both her own and clients’ horses. Weekends finds her traveling to other areas in California, Nevada, Montana and here to Southern Oregon to teach two and three day clinics.
Jutta’s training methods are based on classical principles and follow the USDF training pyramid developmental scale. Jutta’s clinics attract a wide variety of breeds, crossbreds and conformation characteristics. In our clinics she has taught everything from young Fjord and Haflinger driving ponies learning to develop and use their bodies for dressage to a home bred and trained warmblood currently schooling for Gran Prix. She is a master at in-hand work and has helped many of her students learn double lunging methods. She works with all levels of horses and riders and likes working with beginning levels since she feels that the basics are the hardest and most important thing to teach and it is essential to give a solid, correct foundation from which to progress. Highly skilled at identifying the core issues with horse and rider, Jutta sets priorities in such a way that systematic, progressive advancement is logical and developmentally correct. Her demeanor is always pleasant, encouraging and she never over-faces a horse so it becomes stressed or anxious. One comes away from a lesson with Jutta understanding the philosophy of what and how she taught and with specific “homework” and exercises to practice and develop the elements worked on.
Come join us! Auditors are always welcome at no charge.
LESSONS: A 45 minute lesson with Jutta is $105. Our chapter pays any haul in or use fee for you to try to make the lessons as affordable as possible.
